Two years ago at age 10, Peter Fiaschetti, who has Fanconi anemia and is from Rhode Island, was going through a very difficult bone marrow transplant. When he heard there was a Valentine Fanconi Anemia Run/Walk in Portland, he told his mother he was going to get through transplant and come to Portland and walk in it. It became his goal. Even though there were very rough patches throughout the transplant process, he thankfully did make it and never lost sight of his goal. He and his mother were all set to come to Portland last year for the event. Plane and hotel reservations made. Then a week before they were to leave, Peter got sick. His doctor told him he couldn't go. To say the least, both he and his mother and his rooting squad from Portland were all very disappointed. That didn't stop Peter though. He would just come the following year. And he did. Words from Peter's mother: Here is a photo of Peter I took at the beginning of the walk. He is raising his hand in triumph that he made it 24 months after your invitation! Wahoo! We celebrated Sunday with much happiness!
